Sodium Nitrates

Sodium Nitrates are used in combination with other compounds for heat storage and transfer in solar power plants. They also have a role to play as a preservative & color fixative in the food processing industry with E number E251. These chemical compounds have molecular formula NaNO3 with a molecular weight of 84.9947 g/mol and density of 2.257 g/cm3. They can also be used as an oxidizer in fireworks in place of potassium nitrate. Sodium Nitrates are water-soluble in nature and also show solubility in ammonia & alcohol. They have a sweet odor and appear as a white colored powder with a melting point of 308 degrees Celsius.
