Organic Sodium Hypochlorite is extensively used as a bleaching agent for various household purposes and possesses good destaining properties which make it ideal for removing mold & dental stains. It is also added to laundry cleaners and surface cleaning agents. This chemical has molecular formula NaOCl with a molar mass of 74.442 g/mol and density of 1.11 g/cm3. It appears as a yellowish liquid with chlorine-like odor. Organic Sodium Hypochlorite possesses excellent anti-microbial property hence is used for disinfecting tables & slabs in hospitals and laboratories. It is required to treat dilute cyanide wastewater from electroplating wastes.
